The General English course is for all levels. The Avenue English guarantee ensures that if all classes are attended, homework completed on a daily basis and weekly tests submitted the student will improve their English language capabilities in the time that they are with us.

IH Johannesburg specialises in teaching English as a foreign language to students from all over the world. Classes run from Monday to Friday and cover all levels from beginner to advanced.

Consists of Standard English in the mornings, combined with conversation classes in the afternoon. Intensive courses provides further improvement of student’s fluency and communicative competence by expanding on vocabulary and practicing speaking skills.

The General 20 course focuses on language fluency as a main goal. The four major skills students will practice are reading, writing, speaking and listening.

One-to-One tuition is the ultimate course for making maximum progress during a short period of time. This is an intensive course which is 100% focused on your English language needs and designed by your teachers to meet your requirements.

The General English course will cover the four main skills you need to write and speak English (reading, writing, listening and speaking), with an emphasis on practical communication in common situations, such as travelling, shopping, and leisure time. The course includes 20 lessons (15 hours) per week.

The Academic Semester/Year course focuses on language fluency as a main goal. The four major skills students will practice are reading, writing, speaking and listening.

If you are not a teenager anymore, our 30+ English course offers an attractive programme for you if you want to study with people your own age. This course is on the same basis as our General English lessons but specifically tailored to meet the expectations ans needs of adult learners older than 30 years.

Bayswater College offers an English holiday for the whole family. Parents and children attend a Standard General English course in the morning at the same time but in different parts of the college.

Our General English courses focus on the four core language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing to help you to use the English language more effectively. Adding module lessons to your course will intensify your course and help you personalise your learning. Typical module subjects include Grammar, Conversation, IELTS Preparation, Business and others.

Students who have specific language learning requirements may choose to have one-to-one lessons with a teacher. Your teacher will first carry out a detailed needs analysis to identify the context in which you need to use English, and the areas of the language where you need support and training.

This course combines the standard English in the morning with afternoon electives twice a week. You can choose between the following options, Speaking and Listening, or Reading and Writing.
