More about studying in Ukraine »
The nation has endured nuclear fallouts, Communism and revolutions. Nevertheless, when you study Russian courses in Ukraine, you can readily appreciate the resilient nature of the people and their country. The huge capital city of Kiev, the cradle of Slavic civilization, has plenty of monumental sites to support its title. See the golden domes of Kievo-Pecherska Lavra, gather with the locals at the fountains of Maydan Nezalezhnosti, and get happily lost in leafy green Hydropark. Kiev feels extra lively when visiting the desolate and eerie streets of Chernobyl, the town that encountered the world's worst nuclear disaster. Lviv to the west is another great city featuring a well-preserved Old Town. The city is also king of culture, with its brilliant History Museum, lavish Polotsky Palace, and extravagant Ivan Franko Opera House at which performances are spectacular. Feel like a movie star walking up the famous Potemkin Stairway in the southern city of Odessa. In contrast to the cold north, the Crimean Peninsula jutting into the Black Sea has an almost Mediterranean feel. Relax on the soft sand beaches of Yevpatoriya, venture deep into the catacombs in Sevastopol and drink local wine in the picturesque resort town of Yalta, a favorite of the old tsars. Trek to Uchan-su waterfall and Chufut-Kale cave city in the Crimean Mountains or head west to the exciting Carpathian Mountains for skiing, hiking, and riveting history, including the medieval castle in Kamyanets-Podilsky. Attend Russian school in Ukraine to get a better understanding of this nation's astonishing history and bright future.
