Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from IP Winchester. Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.

School location

Winchester, the ancient capital of England, is today one of the most beautiful cathedral cities in the UK. The city is renowned for its high quality of life, just a 1-hour-drive from London. The picturesque cobbled streets that surround Winchester Cathedral offer a bustling atmosphere for shopping. Your English summer school is based on the modern King Alfred Campus of the University of Winchester, just a 15-minute-walk from the historic city centre. Spend your summer holidays in an international atmosphere - in 2016 we had approx. 200 students during peak weeks from 11 different countries - on this very attractive and spacious campus and join the numerous activities organized by our team, or use the great sports facilities.

The Campus

Our English summer school is located on a very green and hilly university campus. The IP Ocean Lounge, where you will meet friends from all over the world and where most of our activities take place, is situated at the heart of the campus. The IP Fruit 'n' Fit - Corner offers you all day long water, tea, and fruit. Your lessons take place in a traditional building situated next to the modern refectory. You need less than 5 minutes for your comfortable accommodation. You will also find a campus cafe, a campus shop and some snack vending machines around. Besides this, the campus offers sports fields for soccer, tennis and other games.
