Founded in 1986 as a non-profit language school and center for cultural exchange, Penobscot Bay Language School has served over 6,000 locals and over 500 international students of all ages through language classes and cultural programming. Over three decades later we continue to promote our mission: To develop and provide opportunities for the people of Midcoast Maine and around the World to explore our shared experience on Earth through the study and celebration of language and culture.

Penobscot Bay Language School is located in Rockland, Maine, at the center of Maine's beautiful MIdcoast Region. The school is located just a few blocks away from Rockland's Main Street where you will find boutique shops, world class restaurants and a vibrant entertainment scene. Rockland is a working waterfront city, with Maine Lobster at the center of the catch--and home to the World Famous Lobster Festival (included in the Summer English Immersion program).
The school is situated on a quite street, close to downtown. There is a commercial kitchen, classroom, small library and a dining area. The grounds of the school are beautifully landscaped with native plants, shade trees and a sunny patio for relaxing between lessons.
I have taken classes with Billy for intermediate Spanish for over six months. His knowledge of Language including the Spanish language is amazing. He has provided us with the nuances of the Spanish language and given us the tools to improve our skills.

Show details » Read more...Homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the local culture in a comfortable setting while studying English in Rockland. These homes are often between 10 - 30 minutes away from the school by public transport. Families usually offer affordable meal plans that allow you to sample the local cuisine. If you have special requests or diet restrictions (because of religion or health reasons), please let us know in advance. We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. The school is also not authorized to issue an I-20 to support an F-1 student visa application. If you need a visa, you have to apply for a Visitor Visa (B1/B2) on your own.
