"We dove right in to targeted, level-appropriate AND productively challenging work from the get-go. Doing one-on-one lessons was the best choice I made when planning my trip to Turkey!"

Audrey Ellis, student from Italy

Rather last minute (approx 10 days ahead) I discovered Concept Languages AND found out I would be able to dedicate some time (and money) to language lessons during my 10-day trip to Istanbul. With the help of Joana, I scheduled 6 hours of one-on-one lessons over two days, my first two days in Turkey. This was ideal and very much appreciated.
The school was easy enough to reach with public transportation; the facility is very pleasant, with large bright windows and a clean, efficient and welcoming feel to it.
The woman who greeted me was very indulgent and did a great job at NOT speaking with me in English while still making herself understood.
Emre, my teacher, and I got right to work. I was really grateful for his skill and willingness to go along with my questions and needs. Although I won't have a lot of occasions to use Turkish and my chances of making much progress are slim (I was in Turkey for only 10 days and have no evident reason/need to go back.), we both took the six hours very seriously -- like a precious resource. Emre was able to follow my requests --- my goal was to try to figure out structure, to guess what might work and experiment with hypotheses for how to put together parts and vocabulary --- and work with MY thinking. It was great fun. He was also able to leverage aspects of the various languages we both know (at least some of): English, Italian, Dutch, German, and French. That was really helpful and stimulating. I would have LOVED to carry on to do more lessons. These two mornings disappeared in the twinkle of an eye!, but they were also enough for me to be reading and listening --- soaking up and drinking in whatever I could get in the ensuing week I had.
Although I was supplied with useful and appropriate materials (two pre-printed, handy guides to the basics of Turkish) and print-outs Emre prepared for me, I would have welcomed references to other materials -- printed or online -- which could support continued language acquisition. To be honest, I don't remember if I asked really clearly that I would have liked to receive recommendations, so I may in part be to blame for not expressing the wish. This is my only criticism.
I was present at the school for such a short time, I have no idea about other activities or facilities which may be available there.
In any case, were I to take lessons there again or for a longer time, I would VERY much appreciate the equipment which allows me to practice speech and good pronunciation, specifically those "old fashioned" language labs where your own voice was recorded and played back for you, so you could hear your attempts to wrap your mouth around the sounds, words, sentences, and dialogues which were played in your headphones.

"Good for short stay people."

Misa Mori, student from Japan

I took personal Turkish lessons for 2 weeks. Actually, 10 hours is really short.
If I could choose 18 or 20 hours in 2 weeks, much better.
Teacher is very good.
She taught me very well for my level.
Location is a bit difficult to find, at first. But if you can take the bus, no problem.
I don't know about school facilities and housing.

"When does the summer intensive program end?"

اشرف عمر, student from Turkey
Arzu Sekirden,

Our intensive summer courses end at the end of August. If the student wants, he can have a less intensive program in September and October.

"Can you issue this student a conditional letter of acceptance so that he can apply for his visa?"

Dyan Test, student from USA
Arzu Sekirden, International Study Institute school representative

We can not give a conditional acceptance without payment - we did this with the libyan students from you and none of them came back. It's not possible for him to get a visa with 10 hours lessons. He needs to apply for 20 hours a week courses for minimum of 1 month.
