The city of Quito, Ecuador is over 800 years old and is one of the most intriguing cities in all of Ecuador. Central Quito is actually considered to be the best preserved historic city in Latin America, and is still filled with original architecture, cobblestone streets, fountains, and churches and monasteries from the days of the Quitus, Incas, and eventually the Spaniards. One of the nicest things about Quito is that although it is very close to the equator, it is much cooler than most other areas because of its higher elevation. Students interested in taking Spanish courses in Quito will find plenty to do in this ancient city, like exploring Quito’s Old Quarter; mountain biking, horseback riding and hiking in the outdoors; and shopping for tapestries, artwork, alpaca sweaters, and more in nearby Otavalo. To get a good idea of its the ancient history, students staying at a Spanish school in Quito can also visit the Museo del Banco, which is Ecuador’s most renowned museum full of pre-Colombian, colonial, and independence-era artwork. Students will love the time they spend learning in Quito.
The General course is for students who want to maximize their language learning practice during their stay. The courses focus heavily on speaking and communication skills: the morning consists of 4 lessons in communication skills, while the afternoon consists of 2 lessons in special topics.
