The objectives of this course are to teach students the fundamentals of TESOL and to prepare students for the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test. Students who take this course will be more confident in presenting and giving instructions; and will be given the opportunity to lead ESL activities and observe an ESL class.

We offer a TESOL Certificate program that conforms to TESL Canada standards and Language Canada’s Quality Assurance guidelines. Trainees will be able to explore teaching, learning and language through task-based, participatory and interactive practice.
Program Duration
4 weeks (100 instructional hours, plus a 20-hour practicum)
Program Schedule*
Monday to Friday, 9:00AM – 2:00 PM + practicum When a statutory holiday occurs, class hours will be made up on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Practicum
Trainees become classroom-ready by teaching international students, alongside their TESL Canada approved host teacher, in a DEA College classroom during their Practicum week using the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the TESOL Certificate Program.

Admission Requirements
Secondary school diploma or equivalent; At least 18 years of age; Applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency: TOEFL IBT 80 or IELTS 6.0 or DEA Level A1.

The school was great, everyone there was helpful, attentive and gentle.

Homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the local culture in a comfortable setting while studying English in North Vancouver. These homes are often between 25 - 50 minutes away from the school by public transport. Families usually offer affordable meal plans that allow you to sample the local cuisine. If you have special requests or diet restrictions (because of religion or health reasons), please let us know in advance. We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.
Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
