Course description

This course takes place at Bell St Albans. This elegant Victorian building set within 60 acres of beautiful English countryside. The main building - for living, teaching, learning and social events - is set around a traditional courtyard garden.

On the course students learn through project-based lessons, study tours and a choice of academic, active and creative electives. It is suitable for all levels and it caters to students aged 11 to 17. Please find some information on course and college attached.

Spring Explorer is designed around designed around 5 weekly project themes which are summarised below.

Week 1: 23rd March to 29th March: The City of Villages

Week 2: 30th March to 05th April: Sharing the Planet

Week 3: 06th April to 12th April: They Changed the World

Week 4: 13th April to 19th April: Kings and Queens

Week 5: 20th April to 26th April: Nation of Innovation

Project-based lessons: 15 hours per week
Lessons focus on a project to suit the level and age range of the class. Students learn something new every time.

Afternoon Educational Activities: 9 hours per week
Students will choose two activities each week from a selection of academic, active and creative electives. Every session is taught by experienced activity leaders who help students develop their skills and ability in the activity – all through the medium of English. Students practice their English, while focused on an activity, which leads to a natural and fluent use of the language.
Sample electives are British school games, Football, Health and fitness, British literature, Creative writing, Journalism, Art and Design, Dance, Drama and film and Photography.

Study tours (included in the course) - 1 per week (3 every two weeks)
Students will learn about British life and culture by exploring places of interest.
Each course includes a study tour to London - students may go on a walking tour or river cruise, or visit places such as London Eye, Natural history museum, the science museum
Students who stay at least two weeks, will enjoy another study tour to places such as Cambridge, Windsor Castle

Evening Activities: 9 hours per week
After lessons, afternoon electives and a delicious dinner, students have an evening activity. Examples of evening activities include team-building challenges, treasure hunts and film nights.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from . Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
