Course description

Weekly Intensive German Course

Most people take courses between 2 and 4 weeks, but you can choose another course length, too:

- We offer individual courses or small group courses at the price of € 490 per week up to 3 weeks. For courses of 4 or more weeks € 460 per week.
Special + 50 courses.
- Tuition is 4 x 45 minute lessons for groups of 3-4/(seldom 5) students, from 9:00 in the morning to 12:15, Monday to Friday
- Tuition is 3 x 45 minute lessons for groups of 2 students
- Tuition is 2 x 45 minute lessons if the student is the only one of his/her standard
- You can stay for as many weeks as you would like to, with a minimum of one week
- The course includes participation in the three free time programmes per week
- Group size: The DIT Weekly Intensive Group Course has usually classes of up to 4, very seldom up to 5 people per class.

This is a very intensive learning experience.

- You learn a lot faster in such a small group: compare this with learning in a class of between 10 and 20 people;
- You participate more;
- The challenge is greater;
- You have more control over what you study and what topics or grammar points are discussed or studied;
- You get more individual attention from your teacher;
- You get to know your teacher better as well as your class mates, and there are many other advantages.

Standards: We have groups of every standard from absolute beginner to the very advanced. We ask everyone (except beginners) to take a short placement test on their first Monday morning to determine your class level.

If you are the only person of your particular standard, we do not cancel your course: instead, we offer you a course with full participation in the free time programme etc., but we reduce your lesson time to 2 lessons of 45 minutes per day. You effectively get private lessons at the group rate. After your 2 private lessons you can attend another class as a listening guest cost free.

The accommodation is not included in the price. The prices for single rooms vary between € 50 and € 92 per night depending on the season, the sort of room you wish to book and their availability in the different B&Bs. DIT can book and confirm the booking for you. The fees for the rooms are to be payed directly in the B&B or by transfer to the B&Bs or to Deutsch-Institut Tirol.

"Very personal and very nice people."

Nicolle Hoogerdijk, student from Netherlands

Classes were (almost) private because of the summer saison.
The teacher focuses on the things you need to learn.
Location is in a sports club building, but is okay.
Activities with the daughter of the teacher were great.
Climbing mountains, visiting a wildpark, drinking a beer or coffee together was a great way to learn the German language.
Housing with family Swidrak was great. Karin is a great hostess.
There was nothing I didn’t like.

"Great improvements and great experience"

Giancarlo Finelli, student from Italy

Great experience.
In the morning the courses were held in a fun way and in a stimulating environment, and in the afternoon the city and its surroundings offered countless opportunities to spend the holiday.

In addition, the free offer by the school of three weekly meetings allows you to further improve the ability to deliver speeches in the language and to meet new people.

Hotel Entstrasser was definitely the best lodging choice. It had a great breakfast and internet throughout the hotel. The family was very friendly and helpful as well.
Doris was a great instructor and Hans was a great coordinator. Kitzbuehel is a lovely town with lots of activities for free time.

"Absolutely Amazing"

Sky Williams, student from Austria

It was brilliant, the teacher was fantastic, he was very knowledgeable and made it very easy to feel relaxed. I learnt a lot and I am much more comfortable speaking German. The location was beautiful, with a view of the mountains and the bus was very frequent. The bus stop was only a few minutes walk away.

"A very welcoming atmosphere for all ages, an efficient teaching style in small groups with one to one interaction which works well."

Thomas Brewin, student from France

I spent 2 weeks doing the beginner course and it was a great start to learning the language, I got a very good introduction to the basics. The teachers are kind and understanding, and all in all good people. They also gave us general information about the area and what to do, where to go which was useful. I had a good time and would recommend to anyone wanting to learn or improve their German.

"My experience was excellent, personalized and the teacher, Doris, was not only patient but kind. She went out of her way by taking me to visit other towns around Kitzbühel while, of course, chatted in German."

Elizabeth Würfl, student from Ecuador

The teachers at the Deutsch Institute in Tirol were excellent. The location of the school was very good, The recommendation of the places To stay are very good too. My experience at Entrasser Garni hotel was excellent, the hotel is small, very clean, excellent breakfast, but most of all the owners are ver kind and helpful.
The social activities in the afternoon were fine. I did not like that the place I had my classes was not clean, there were other people using it for other activities and left the place dirty.
Valentina, mu student advisor was always helpful and friendly.

Liebe Elizabeth,

Ich freue mich über deine positiven Worte über das Deutsch-Institut Tirol!!! Auch für uns war es ein Vergnügen, mit dir zu arbeiten, zu sprechen, beisammen zu sein!

Alles Gute Hans

Dear Elizabeth,

I am very pleased about your positive words about the Deutsch-Institut Tirol!!! It was also a pleasure to us to work, talk and be together with you.

All the best Hans

"The Deutsch-Institu Tirol was a better experience than I had imagined."

Lynnette Chambers

I had never formally studied German, prior to attending the school I did download a few language apps and study that for a few months. Therefore, I as a true beginner, so I was in the beginner class with 2 other students. Our instructor, Reiner could not have been more patient and kind. After two weeks I feel that my skills have really improved and I am going to continue to study on my own.

Hans organized fun outings for the group which gave us all a chance to practice our German. During my stay in Kitzbuhel I stated at Hotel Garni Enstrasser, which was also wonderful and just a few minutes walk to the school. I believe there were 9 or 10 other students that also stayed at Hotel Garni Enstrasser so that also enhanced the overall experience.

I enjoyed my time at Deutsch-Institu so much that I plan to go for another two weeks in 2020

"Remarkably effective. It really works."

Christopher Stacey Allsop

At different stages of my life I have attended at least ten language schools, in eight different countries, studying four foreign languages. DIT is the benchmark against which I compare all the others and it stands way out in front.
I was over 50 when I began to learn German and was close to giving up when I came to DIT for the first time. It was as though my spinning wheels suddenly found traction. After two weeks I had not only made astonishing progress, but my confidence was transformed.
The small class sizes are a big factor, but I think the commitment and enthusiasm of the teachers are what makes the difference. They see that everybody gets plenty of air time and the conversation flows freely without interruption - errors are noted and only reviewed at the end. I think that is the best way to develop fluency. And somehow they manage to make even the awful German grammar into a stimulating challenge.
I came back year after year right up until my retirement. I am now working on getting my other foreign languages up to the same standard as my German. This year alone I have spent 4 weeks at the Sorbonne institute, and another 4 weeks at a private language school in Colombia. But I have yet to find any schools as effective as DIT.
Moreover: my 14 year-old son was really struggling with German at school. He was so bad that he was advised to drop it in order to focus on his other GCSE subjects. As a last-ditch effort I persuaded him to join me at DIT for two weeks one December (using the skiing opportunities as an incentive). Soon after he went back to school in January his German teacher phoned my wife to say he was now the best student in her class. His best grades at GCSE and A-level were in German, and he went on to study it at University.
That’s what I call effectiveness.

"Great teacher, lovely place, pleasant people"

Wonderful teacher: enthusiastic about teaching, passionate about the German language, always positive. Hans knew the history/origin of the language, was particularly good at explaining grammar concepts and was able to adapt his way to teach on the need of the students.

"An excellent experience with first-class teaching"

Richard Lawrence

I first studied at the Deutsch-Insitut in 1990. I have been back several times since then, most recently in 2017. What I most value is the opportunity for conversation in German and the chance to refresh my knowledge of German grammar. The instruction is not confined to the morning classes: it continues with afternoon visits to the lake, or to a coffee house in town.
