I really enjoyed the course, that were held by wxcellent teachers. The only flaw at school is probably a lack of new technology and media in the classes.

"I learned a lot, although I was not there for long."

Clara Muessig, student from Germany

I liked the classes, because we talked a lot about Brighton’s advantages and disadvantages and about the touristic and not so touristic places. I found it very interesting. I also found it good that we had not much homework and I liked the one homework we had.
I liked the teachers, because they were all nice and funny.
The location was good, too, because it was near the sea, so if we talked about the sea, I could imagine it very well.
I liked the facilities from the outside and I liked the classrooms, but I didn’t like the entrance.
I didn’t participate to any of the activities, but I think the football activity sounded good.

"The school was not well organized."

Cécile Lefevre, student from France

The tests on the first day were only about reading/writing, the teachers were late in class (3 times in a week), the teacher changed 2 times in 2 weeks without any warning from the school, there was no program or any feedback from the teacher. Additionally, the school was not very clean: dirty toilets and the bins in the school were always full.

Hélène Otjacques, student from Belgium

The people work in the college was so understanding when I wanted to change class. The professors were very nice, friendly and I have been a good feeling with her. The students were very nice and not in the judgment of our English level. The host family was really nice, sympathetic and the conversation with their were really interesting to know better the English culture. The view of the college on the Pavilion is just incredible. The Dave’s orange marmelade was soooo tasty, I love it !!! The host family is for me a lovely memory!

"A superb school and a great experience"

Anna Sofija Lauberte, student from Latvia

My two-month stay was truly exceptional. I do not have much to compare it with, but I came back home fully satisfied with everything I experienced.

The school was located in the center of Brighton, which made it a very easy place to access, and many other unique places were easily accessible from the school as well. The school advised me on which bus ticket to buy, which was extremely convenient.
The staff was friendly and I never had any problems reaching out to them. The teachers were great too, every one of them knew their subject well. I was highly satisfied with the level of preparation for my IELTS exam.

I did get very tired after attending both morning and afternoon classes five days a week, and had to reduce the number of afternoon classes to about two per week. I found the activities in them too easy, but the additional hours made me exhausted anyways. Same was the case for a few other students.

The classrooms were spacious and quite comfortable. I was disappointed by the toilets, though, because in the women's toilet there were only two or three stalls working out of five (or six? I'm not sure anymore), and in one of those the toilet barely flushed. Sometimes there was a lack of toilet paper in some stalls, and you had to take it from others. The three toilets that weren't available were never fixed during my stay.

The host family I stayed with was very friendly and welcoming, though, sadly, I didn't get to spend much time with them since they were working most of the time. I loved my room a lot, it was very cozy and pretty, and had enough space for any of my belongings. It was cleaned about once a week by the mother of the family.
The only two downsides were the lack of curtains on my window (it was a window in the roof, so privacy was not the issue, it was the light) which I got used to pretty quickly; as well as the lack of table and chair where I could write or draw. To be fair, I didn't need it too much, but it was still quite upsetting not to have one.

The activities provided by the school were highly entertaining and educational. On my first week I went on a trip to London, and after there were a few other trips as well. The organizer knew the city well and was a nice and friendly person himself. We also had a barbeque and some basketball games (I didn't attend the games, but they were enjoyed a lot by the other students).

Overall, this was an undeniably great experience, and I recommend the school to anyone who is thinking about learning English in Brighton.

"Great opportunity to make friends and speak English naturally."

Isabele Natalie Santos Moreira Silva, student from Brazil

The school has a good localization, has a place where you can eat something and it's next to the supermarket where you can eat cheaper also, near to the beach, center of the city and the bus station.

The classes has a few students where you can fell comfortable to talk and make question if you have, the teacher are always open to answer it.

I like how the classes work, you can always watch a level up to make sure if you are in the right level.

I didn't like the school doesn't have a microwave for example, this make the student spend a lot of money with some food that doesn't healthy.

"Excellent experience"

Eleonora (Marie) Knezevic, student from France

It was an excellent experience.

The location of the school in Brighton was just in front of the sea (3 min walking from the beach) in the city center. Classes were adapted to the knowledge of my kid (beginner) she started to speak English. We booked only for 1 week, program explorer, because I didn't know how it will be. I regret not to book 3-4 weeks, she will progress more than she is already. We had a warm welcoming at school and very good teacher, Madame Brigitte.

We had a very lovely staying with our host family. It was a huge house, 5 min walking from the bus station Beaconfields Villas Top. We needed about 15 min by bus to reach the school. The location was very calm, only the seagulls waked us up in the morning.

We will definitely come back next year.

Eleonora Knezevic

"A lovely life-experience and a good way to improve your english."

Ilse Femke van Eeden, student from Switzerland

The size of the classes was very good, neither too big nor too small. I had two different teachers and they both had their own way to teach, mostly positive. The location is perfect, because it is so close to the center and nearly every bus stops there. I really liked that there were voluntary activities you could easily join. The building was ok, but at the toilet several washbasins and toilets didn't work at all, except downstairs. I liked my housing, my host mom was really friendly and I had several options for a bus to get to school.

"I liked it"

Barnabas Horvath, student from Hungary

The teacher,Dominik was very friendly and funny
The boys loved him very much
Barnus had 4 activity leaders in the afternoon, the girls who were at the first week were very friendly and helpful as well. Yes,they were Risa and Anna

And about the school itself? The kid’s building is very old and smelly downstairs, where the kids learn and spend most of the time in the morning

But the activities were great and enjoyable in the afternoon

"It was a very cool experience"

Anastasiia Safronova, student from Germany

Well, in order. I liked the lessons, but some teachers followed the textbook too much. It so happened that I had 5 teachers and most of all I liked Fred and David. Brighton, itself, the location of the school and everything I liked so much. Very short distances and you can walk everywhere. Activities I also really liked. Brigitta, David and Reza made them amazing.

"The Brighton Language College need to invest in meda tools and other materials for teaching"

Susana Blasco, student from Spain

I really enjoyed my time in Brighton, it is a beautiful place.
In relation to the Bfigton Language College, I am a little disapointed. Once I arrived, people there informed me About where was to take part the english clases (a specific classroom). Then my teacher arrived (Mark). He was very polite, but unfortunatelly, no one had informed him about the specific subjects related to the clases I had asked for, previously (financial and tax issues). He had not even been informed about the previous questionaire I fullfiled. So, the first two days, the english classes were very general for me (Mark try to focus them in financial and tax issues, but there was no material related to such specific subject).
Besides, the learing books included a DVD for listening, but in the classroom, there was only CD recorder player , so during the two first days it was no posible to do any kind of listening (so Mark read for me some texts, thanks Mark!!). Finally, Mark got some CDs so we could do listenings, and also got some financial learing books so we could also focus our english clases on financial and tax subject.
In my opinión, It would be necesary that the college improves the material resources and tols (computer in order to be able to Access to different webs or podcasts in english, DVD recorder, etc).
I would appreciate that if I answer a questionaire detailing the kind of english subjects I am interested in, the College was ready for providing such kind of teaching.

Thanks in advance.
Susana

Thank you for your comments, all information is passed on to our teachers regarding bookings when provided. The information is on our database and therefore should have been passed on, we will speak to Mark as to why he did not review this information prior to course commencement. We have a library of materials which all teachers have access to and an academic management team her to support all our teachers with their classroom activity and as you acknowledge these materials were made available. The college promotes personal technology (tablets / smart phones) as technology such as computer rooms / tv lounges are very dated, impersonal, break easily and need constant attention. We have super fast wifi and teachers and students are encouraged to use this in the classroom to access authentic materials and supporting media. An example would be 1 screen / 1 DVD for a group of students in class compared to individual students accessing the media directly on their personal devices enabling personalised learning, the ability to take the media home to revise with and individual support tailored to each student and their device. I'm glad you enjoyed your 1 week study here and we review our systems here for teachers accessing student information which is currently available on our databases.

"I learned a lot and my time at school was simply great."

Eva Tschiderer, student from Austria

My teachers were helpful and friendly. The classes and facilities were clean and tidy. It's a well organized College in general.
I lived in a small apartment close to the school.
I didn't join the activities since I stayed with my mum, so I can't rate these.
The location is very good - not far from the beach, not far from the shopping area and it is not far to get very good food!

"Great experience and i've learned a lot"

Sophie Warmerdam, student from Netherlands

I liked the lessons very much. The lessons were varied. For example, the afternoon classes, it included a lot of topics to talk about, like religion and politics. The teachers were quite involved and interested in all students. I've made some friends and we spent some time together. I stayed with my cousin so I didn't participate in any group activities or stayed with a host family.

"Very good teaching sessions, very poor administrative performance (over invoicing, promise to refund, but nothing happens..."

Kristian Jensen, student from Denmark

Very good teaching sessions, quick assessment of my level, relevant, good selected material exercises. One day spent on walking for sightseeing including guided tour to the previous police station. Very interesting.

Very poor administrative performance, Tuesday morning, 16 August I was informed, that I was assigned to class training in the afternoon as well (and had been invoiced & had paid for this as well).

After having shown my course details, the staff informed me that a booking mistake had happened - and that the fee for the afternoon lessons would be refunded to my credit card. No refund has been carried out so far.

I had booked a room at New Steine B&B/Hotel - worked fine.

"Beautiful"

Silvia Armigliato, student from Italy

My experience was positive. After the preliminary exam I felt they made a mistake with my English level because I barely understood what was around me but as soon as I started I manage quite well the lessons and liked it very much, my class and my teachers. I had a private accommodation on my own. I couldn't attend all the activities because some days I felt tired and other times the weather was so bad.

Zsofia Dicenty, student from Hungary

I found the school very good. Everybody in the school was really friendly and helpful.

The location is just excellent.

The school organizes activities after class. Fortunately, it was not peak season, so the classes were small so we had more time and opportunity to practice and learn.

The teachers were good, seemed very qualified, and were willing to teach you. They followed your reactions and actions to be sure you understood everything correctly.

I really enjoyed my stay at the school. I am very pleased and satisfied.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from BLC International. Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged £ 65 when you register.
