Location
Colegio Español La Janda overlooks the historic part of Vejer and is conveniently located between the historic old town and the new. It is undeniably one of the most stunningly beautiful of the famous "pueblos blancos" of Andalusia; and only 10 k¨m away from the awe-inspiring beaches of Costa de La Luz. It has only recently been discovered as a travel destination, which means that it is a town in its own right and the locals tend not to speak English- perfect for a complete immersion experience.
Quality and Variety
La Janda has gained an excellent reputation and has become the perfect choice for those looking for more than just a Spanish course: we offer a true Spanish experience, in an exceptional natural environment. The school's excellent location and its wide variety of courses make it an ideal location to study Spanish: students can choose a general Intensive course, or combine it with Yoga, Flamenco, Horse riding, Surf courses, all taught in Spanish!
Facilities
Colegio de Español La Janda has facilities that include free WiFi access, self-study materials, two patios, a scenic roof terrace and a kitchen. The school offers a monthly social and leisure calendar to invite students to practice their Spanish skills while visiting popular points of interest in and around the city.
The nationality and age mix at Colegio de Español La Janda varies over different time periods, courses and levels.

Vejer de la Frontera is a beautiful and perfectly preserved white village on the Costa de la Luz, very close to the Straits of Gibraltar. From the top of the hill on which it is situated, you can see its beaches, nature reserves and the mountains of North Africa. There is no doubt that Vejer is an exceptional place, both for its history and nature.
The first time you visit this small town, many things will surprise you; the whiteness of its streets, the original makeup of its houses, as if designed by a Cubist painter, and, above all, the pleasant manner of the people. You have to visit the historic centre of the town and lose yourself in the alleys and the sloping lanes of the old part of the town. Alternatively zigzag through the old town wall gates which surround it, resting in any one of its terraces and enjoying a coffee after a walk.
If you look out from any of the viewpoints in Vejer, you can see that the town is surrounded by magnificent beaches and nature reserves. Some of these beaches are true treasures of dunes and fine sands, such as El Palmar. Others are famous for their festive atmosphere, above all the Caños de Meca. The nearest beach is just eight kilometres away. At the same time, it should be stressed that Vejer is less than half an hour from three important natural features: the Pinar of Barbate, a pine forest on a spectacular cliff, Los Alcornocales and the Parque del Estrecho. Due to all this, Vejer is a marvellous place for sports lovers, where hiking, trekking, cycling, climbing, kite surfing, and paragliding can be practised in the surrounding area. In the same way, Vejer is the perfect starting point for day trips around the ‘White Villages’, to Cadiz, to Ronda, or even a weekend in Morocco. In order to make the most of all this, La Janda organizes a daily cultural programme which, as well as conferences, cultural talks, and parties also include visits and trips to places of interest.
Warm, personal, professional and flexible.... I loved my course at La Janda
Show details » Read more...The school was located near the old part of the white village. The facilities were good. In the early week of June there weren't that many activities as I would have wished for, but this was due to the few number of pupils. Apparently there are a lot more students (and tourists!) during the summer months of July and August.
I really enjoyed being in the lectures. We were only two students there, therefore our learning process was very intensive and individual. I liked our teacher a lot.
Housing was well organised, food was pretty good and I appreciate the way my host family opened up their life to me.
I can warmly recommend this school and village to students who want to learn how to speak Spanish.
I've been in La Janda for 2 weeks taking daily lessons. Had an incredible time and substantially improved my Spanish skills.
Everyone at the school - both teachers and administration team alike - have been nothing short of excellent.
Vejer is one of the nicest towns I've ever been to and offered beautiful architecture, high-quality and affordable accommodation, great food and lovely bars, making the experience outside school hours very enjoyable.
I will most definitely return as soon as possible.
I started the course as a complete beginner and after 30 hours of one-to-one lessons I had grasped the basics of Spanish, at least enough to have a conversation. The lessons I have had have provided me with a good foundation on which to build my knowledge of the language.
My teacher was knowledgeable and patient, the school premises are located in a lovely part of the old town and the teachers made a point of putting on social activities where all the students would get together and be encouraged to socialize in Spanish.
I liked the atmosphere: quiet, small school, natural, small village, and the people.
I prefer the school rather small.
I want you to maintain such an atmosphere.
Quality of the course was very good. I had a very enthusiastic teacher and with just one classmate, almost private teaching. I had a private apartment in the school that was good. I booked one social activity: a walk around town, that I enjoyed.

Vejer de la Frontera is a beautiful, emblematic pueblo blanco. Hundreds, if not thousands of little bars and eating places line its narrow, hilly streets. The hardest task is finding the college in the labyrinth. But when I did, I felt so at home, right from the first moment.
The school building is old and very attractive, with stunning views, especially from my favourite room, the library, full of modern computers, yet so peaceful.
Classes are small. The teaching is very flexible, you only have to mention something you find difficult for it to be brought up in the next lesson.
The teachers are good and share a great sense of humour and we talked and laughed a lot during the classes. Supporting staff are equally friendly in the office and will happily sort out any problems, from timetables to bank accounts.
Being a middle aged woman, I arranged my own housing, but next time I won't hesitate to stay in the college. I was nervous that I would feel out of place, being older and not having done a course of any sort since leaving school.
I need not have worried, I had a fantastic time and felt included in all activities.
I have to say, Vejer is not suitable for shopaholics, nor for people who have difficulties with walking as it is very hilly.
Walking, riding, and water sports are all readily available and there are flamenco evenings, tapas evenings etc.
I will be back as soon as I can!
