For a second year in 2024, Samiad will return to the Oratory School, nestled in the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside. Their expansive grounds offer a wealth of sports facilities, including a golf course and real tennis courts, providing our students with ample opportunities to stay active and engaged.
Founded in 1859, the Oratory School boasts a rich history and is home to many of its original buildings. It’s no surprise that renowned author J.R.R. Tolkien chose one of their beautiful rooms to pen a portion of his literary masterpiece, “The Hobbit.”
In the last century, the Oratory School has gained recognition for its success in Real Tennis, and has become a favourite destination for the Royal Family, who have visited numerous times to play against both staff and students.
I was a group leader for seven kids from Athens, Greece. We stayed at the Oratory School in July. This was my first experience with Samiad and I didn't know what to expect from our stay at the school.
The school was very big with great facilities. The activities planned by the activity leaders were fun and engaging (indoor AND outdoor activities). The students stayed in separate buildings according to gender. They shared room with one friend which was a comfort for our students as many had never been away from their families prior to this trip.
We (me and the other Greek group leaders) were amazed by the staff at the school. They were enthusiastic, knowledgeable, caring and responsible.
The teacher for my group (Ms. Rachel) was great. The students all loved her.
Thank you so much! We loved hosting you at The Oratory. We would love to welcome you back in the future.
