Newdeal Institut de français in Bordeaux is located in the heart of the quartier La Bastide at the very centre of the city. It is close to the Pont de pierre, University of economy of Bordeaux, the shops of Sainte Catherine street, restaurants, snacks .... The school's excellent location means you are never more than a short walk away from all the major attractions in Bordeaux.
Tram station is in front of the school
It was an overall interesting experience, i think i would do it again. I loved the city, the family was welcoming and really polite and i learned a lot of new things at the courses. The teachers had no problem comunicating with the students and i liked the fact that they focused on expanding the vocabulary and learning about the french culture. If there was one thing that i did not like was the absence of oral excercises. The location was perfect and i had no problem wint the public transportation whatsoever. I did not take part in any activities because of some health problems so i have no picture there.

The teaching was wonderful (the teachers are both talented and so kind and approachable) they are very flexible and allow you to take it at your own pace. I was easily able to move down a class and I knew others who moved up when they wanted to. They have some extra curricular activities but Bordeaux is full of wonderful things to do anyway. It was particularly nice to be on the opposite side of the river to most of the life in the city because it gave you a beautiful walk into school each day and an excuse to see the other side of the river. I had the luck of great classmates and a great host family. The facilities at both the home and school were wonderful. I stayed for 3 weeks but I think 4 weeks is a good minimum. Bordeaux is a wonderful city year round and I loved it so much that im considering going again in the summer!

The teachers were really good, one of them excellent!
The one thing I did not like was the temperature inside. It was cold. And the door was open, apparently for some strange security reasons..
I enjoyed my experience at Newdeal overall. The classes were well paced with a variety of topics and activities to keep us engaged. The teachers did a good job presenting the material and facilitating the class. Location of the school was convenient, and the facilities were spacious, there was good wifi, and individual classrooms were air conditioned and comfortable. I unfortunately could not do participate in many of the activities as I had other commitments, this cannot comment on them. And I had set up my own housing, so again cannot comment on that.
Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend Newdeal to anyone coming to study in Bordeaux.
Neel,
Thank you very much for your feedback ! We're really happy you enjoyed your experience at Newdeal Institut :D We wish you all the best and hope to see you again if you're back in France !
Isabel was such a great, nice, funny and caring teacher. She was always interested and taught us French in a very sympathic way. I enjoyed every day of classes, also due to the very nice class members, who came from so many different countries. All in all I felt very comfortable and would recommend the Institute anytime!

Franz,
It was a pleasure to have you as a student at Newdeal Institut! Thank you so much for your great comment! We wish you all the best :D
Everything happened as we expected! Since the first day we arrived, the instructions we have received were clear!
The locations were alright, teachers as well as we could imagine and, finally, the course was very important to improve our knowledge about French language!
Merci beaucoup pour cet avis positif !

Excellent program. I enrolled for a week and learned a lot, fast. The first day was a challenge, as I was out of practice and an older student. But the professors were patient (although never deviating from French) and I got my footing. I enjoyed our conversations about current events. I plan to enroll again during my visit next year (this time for longer). I think a 2 week minimum would be ideal. Definitely a 5 star program.

The school is very professionally run. The staff members are welcoming and friendly. The teachers are very knowledgeable, patient and good at imparting knowledge.
I caught Covid and it was easy to re-arrange my classes to continue after confinement. I also asked for a change of class level, which was done without fuss.
Despite being older than most, I felt at ease and welcome, and I thoroughly enjoyed the lessons, which were well structured and presented. The resources were very useful.
enjoyed my time, and have no hesitation recommending this school.
Merci Andrew !
I chose Newdeal institute for its flexibility.
I attended the B1 classes three times a week for two months.
The first day I entered a higher class and I could catch up, the teacher changed my class and there I gradually progressed with my French.
There were various activities and with one of them I met a great friend. Even after finished my course, we keep meeting and talking frequently. Most of the students are friendly, we can chat in poses between the classes.
The teachers are patient and frank, they helps us a lot to learn French. My teachers changed two time, which was a little bit sad.
There were kitchen knives and folks, microwaves, kettles, fridge.
Toilettes are always clean.
Not so many Asian students which is good for Asians if they really want to practice French.
Merci pour ton message ! Nous espérons te revoir très vite !
Thank you so much :) See you soon !
The location was easy to find and travel to. The teachers (Marion and Alexandra) were excellent. I learned a lot in just two weeks. Always challenging, but never too difficult. Facilities were to the expected standard. I would recommend it and I would consider coming back again to work towards a higher level or to take an exam.

Yeah the whole experience was grand, all the teachers were nice enough and so was the house, oblivious i couldn't do any extra curriculum activities, but the city in general was very nice. Would defiantly recommend 10/10.

Thank you very much for your comment. We are really happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are really sorry about the extra activities, but because of the lockdown and the sanitary situation, we are not able to offer the normal program.
We hope to see you again in Bordeaux in normal conditions.
Best regards
Overall, I really enjoyed Newdeal Institute, the vibe, the teachers and of course the course. Our teacher during the morning sessions was well prepared and used different student centered approaches to teaching French. I also enjoyed that the students were not all too young and were all at similar level. However, there are few things that I would like to highlight mainly to help the school to improve further:
- the classes were quite small and with COVID-19 we didn't have much space between the students. and the rooms were also quite hot for 12 students per classroom; the school need to think how they will address this moving forward;
- we would get new students weekly, so it was a bit difficult not to stay with the same group for the entire three weeks, this might be due to this year, but in the future, the school might need to look at it
- the afternoon workshop needs to be thought through and link to what students are learning and struggling it in the morning, some teachers did it well, but not all teachers would connect the workshop in the afternoon to the learning in the morning, as the workshop should go deeper on what students learn
My two teachers were both superb, despite being saddled with a marked range in skills until classes were re-organized. The larger part of my courses were with Nas, who makes learning a language fun, interesting, and at the same time instructive, even when correcting my mistakes. She did a stellar job of having the more hesitant students speak up. She dealt with a large class size, and was particularly insightful into how each student was progressing despite that hindrance. Nas was patient, adept at stretching my (and others') language envelope, and exceptionally clear in her explanations and lessons. Julia was also excellent, though my contact with her was much more limited.
Class size neared the upper limit for one and half of my two weeks. That was a bit of a deterrent to speaking and to learning and practicing better pronunciation. One-on-one tutoring was astonishingly helpful. I knew that that would provide the best forum to learn and to force me to think and speak in French. Luckily, Nas worked wonderfully in this setting. I would emphasize private tutoring in your website. The 20/10 option was the reason I chose New Deal, and I heartily endorse it as the best way to get into a language quickly — if at times imperfectly.
Very convenient location, with a tram stop directly outside.
The staff were always very helpful, interested in making the most of your time at New Deal and helping with information and recommendations.
The facilities were fine, other than class rooms far too small for the number of students.
I did not participate — sadly — in any of the activities, but the idea is very good, and I know that some of the other students felt a bit adrift without friends during their lessons.
We stayed at AppartCity Hotel, which I understand you recommend. It was very convenient. Sadly, the staff were unhelpful, at times brusque, and the overall cleanliness of the hotel (bedding excepted) was stunning. Need a repair job, new carpet, daily not weekly cleaning (once a week in the rooms is fine, but the hallways were filthy even after the weekly cleaning). I have stayed in youth hostels and two-star hotels in poor countries that were cleaner and better run than this "3-star" hotel in Bordeaux.
[As a side note, once I got to know the staff a bit better, they were frustrated at their management who were unresponsive to complaints about the dilapidation and unsavory hygiene.]
It was amazing. The way that they teach are different and enjoyable, but they always focus on gramma and vocabulary. I like so much the Aude, Gilian and Yaëlle lessons, they are absolutely an incredible and inspiring teachers. I know that 2 weeks aren't enough but I learnt a lot. Also I would like to thank you to Amandine.

I came to Bordeaux for two weeks and had the course 3x times a week.
I did like the size of the class however I am B2 with a tendency to C1 and I didn't like that I was put in a b1-b2 class
My teacher was nice, she did a great job. Bu I would have like more reading and comprehension exercises and maybe some homework here and there.
The location was super easy to reach and the facility was nice.
There were activities offered but they weren't in my interest.
Overall I really did enjoy it I do think though they should have informed me that my language level wasn't available
Oh a place within the school to get food would have been amazing.
The school itself was very nice, cozy and on the good location. Teachers and students creates almost family atmosphere. It takes little time to find the correct level for me, but I enjoyed the study very much. The city of Bordeaux I can also recommend, you have plenty of opportunities you can do.

I was only at the school for one week, but between the classes and the home stay with a French family I fit in an amazing amount of practice in just 5 days and felt much more comfortable with my French. I also achieved my goal and passed my French exam when I returned home.
Thanks

I think the positioning of my son and I was spot on regarding our level. I had no idea what to expect, I didn't realize that some people had already been in the class for a few weeks - you are just slotted into whatever they are learning at the time.
In 5 weeks we had at least 3 (if not 4) different teachers. This was not ideal, as sometimes they did not pick up where the other one left off, and they all had their own teaching style.
I realize it must be difficult having new students and differing abilities starting at all different times and doing different days of the week, but it did feel a little disjointed at times. I may have preferred more of a planned 5 weeks classes, knowing what I would learn over the whole time. We seemed to spend a lot of time on less petites announces...
Overall, it was beneficial, but I feel it could have been structured in a more organised fashion.
I have no complaints or problems about the course/organisation. My only gripe was 9am starts - too early for myself and clashed with work schedule.
Could not partake in 'activities' due to work commitments although have kept in contact with fellow students. Cannot comment on 'housing'.
Otherwise very good and highly recommended.
Thank you, I 'm sorry you couldn't participate to the activities we propose.
See you soon !
The instructors were friendly, creative and always fun and encouraging. The office was clean, comfortable and easy to get to by tram, bike or foot. I loved that they had some outside of the classroom activities so that you could practice French in a more natural setting and get to know other students and faculty. It seemed more like a family of friends interested in learning language and about each other and their culture.... and it was fun to have students from around the world of different ages and walks of life.
